Can anyone tell me what is public key cryptography?

Public Key Cryptography or Asymmetric Cryptography is a method of encrypting data using two different keys – a public key and private key. A public key is available for anyone to use. The public key is used to encrypt. Private Key helps in decrypting the data encrypted with public key decrypted.
