Salesforce Sales Cloud focuses on supporting a sales process, which includes campaign creation, leads, accounts, and contacts, and is used by sales organizations.

Service Cloud:

Salesforce Service Cloud provides functionalities such as entitlements, knowledge bases, and also case management. It is used by support organizations.

Salesforce Relational Tables

  • Salesforce platform stores data in relational tables.
  • These relational tables are also called API objects.

Salesforce Objects

Salesforce objects are database tables that allow you to store specific data.

  • Standard Objects: The objects that are already created for the user by the Salesforce platform (also called Account Object)
    • Account: To query and manage accounts in an organization
    • Account History: To identify changes to an account
    • Case: To manage cases for the organization
    • Contact: To manage individuals who are associated with an Account in the organization
    • User: To query information about users and helps provide and modify the information
    • Asset: To track assets previously sold to customer accounts
    • Domain: A read-only object used to query the domains that are associated with each website in the organization
  • Custom Objects: The objects that are created by users, based on business processes
    • To build page layouts to control fields, also the read-write access
    • To import custom object records
    • To create reports and dashboards to analyze custom object data
    • To create a custom tab for a custom object
    • To track tasks and events
    • To import custom object records
  • External Objects: The objects that you create to map to the data stored outside your organization.

Automating Business Processes

  • Select an object to start a process
  • Add criteria to the object to allow the start of the process
  • Add actions to the criteria to trigger the execution of the process

Importing Data

While importing data, there are a few steps that you need to follow.

Steps: Setup Home → Data → Data Import Wizard → Launch Wizard → Add new records → Select the field to match the existing record with the incoming record → Match the incoming field names with the column names → Next

Following are the steps you need to follow to export data.

Steps: Setup Home → Data → Data Export → Choose Salesforce objects (the data of which needs to be exported by ticking off the checkboxes) → Next → Get the hyperlink → Download the data

Reports

A list of records meeting the criteria that you have defined is called a report in Salesforce. Reports are stored in folders. You can create Salesforce reports and then perform a few filtering, grouping, etc. on it. You can create a report using the following steps.

Steps: Reports → Create New Report → Select object(s) → Define Settings → Choose the created filter → Save the report → Apply the filter

Dashboards

A visual display of information gathered from the reports is called a dashboard in Salesforce. Just like reports, dashboards are also stored in folders. There is a single underlying report for each dashboard.

  • Provides more insights than reports
  • Combines data from many reports
  • Shows summarized results

Visualforce

Visualforce is a part of the Salesforce platform, a framework that allows developers to build sophisticated, custom, dynamic, and reusable interfaces.

Steps: Dashboard → New Dashboard → Fill in the name and description → Add components

  • Email integration: Salesforce also allows to send emails to contacts in bulk.
